iHop Birthday Celebration

Posted by Josh Pacheco - "Love Songs at Night"

I gotta be honest, folks. Anytime I come in contact with food, I tend to immediately gravitate towards it. So, when I found out that I would be chatting with the folks from iHop, and was also told that they would be bringing food, you knew I'd be ALL over it!

It just so happens that along with their 2 year birthday celebration, that they also in the middle of the "Strawberry Festival"...check out the menu! Crapes (first time I've ever had Crapes), pancakes, and more!

They brought down strawberry pancakes with TONS of whipped cream, Strawberry Crapes with Cream Cheese Filling (I remember thinking that the correct pronounciation of Crapes was more like "Creeps" a couple of years ago, and said it at the County Fair no less :), and Stuffed French Toast with Strawberry Cream Cheese filling. They also brought bacon, eggs, and hash browns.

Check out the KBIG FM Podcast Section for my chat with VP Scott and Hilo General Manager Terri, and thanks to iHop for curing my hunger!

Oh, and before I forget, a big thank you to my co-workers. They told the iHop folks that I don't eat vegetables (now that EVERYONE needs to know about it), and they said it isn't a problem, because they've got great food without the greens. Sweet!

2009 March for Babies in Hilo

The 2009 March of Dimes March for Babies event is complete, and yet again, the giving people of the Big Island were out in force, rain or shine (and it was mostly rain), to support our young keiki of Hawaii. We surpassed last years amount of runners, with at least 400 people representing businesses and clubs, and some just coming out on their own to get some exercise!

The event was held at the Panaewa Zoo, which meant people could walk around all of the different animals. We were situated right near a bird's cage. Of course, people could check out the new monkeys.

After many of the walkers made it back, we got some of the entertainment started with Na Hoku Hanohano Award Winner Ben Kaili, with more entertainment from the Hilo Visayan Club and more. We also gave away some door prizes and kept our walkers well fed with great fruits and breakfast sandwiches.

One of our radio sponsors was "Feathers and Tails Pet Care Services." Chris was there showing off her business and handing out some brochures. There was a great picture on her brochure with an angry cat over her owner's vacation.

A special mahalo to Eden, the Hilo event coordinator, as well as the many Volunteers from Waiakea and St. Joseph High School, the corporate sponsors, and again, the generous support of all of you. If you are in Kailua-Kona, you're event is coming up on April 4th, so keep it here for more details on the event.

Oh, and if you are wondering if I walked or not? I'm out of shape, so my job was to watch the sound equipment. I'm sure we will have video of that soon :)
